Let me tell you about Trinkets.

My first niece was born when I was nineteen. As a gift, I built her a doll house replica of the farm house with my usual attention to detail but including hinges so the house could be split in half to open. It’s built to a much larger scale than the usual 1:64 or 1:48. It is 1:24 scale which is ideal for a dollhouse that can be played with. I then began to fill the house with all the various furnishings.

I'll be able to add bits and bobs to the dollhouse and hopefully keep her entertained and amused for years to come.

That’s when I discovered Trinkets. I got that Chill when I made a replica of my own farmhouse bed. With this new discovery I've found that with work, I can now make portals of objects instead of structural facades. The bed takes me to my bedroom at the farm. When I’m focused, I can make other objects as portals to take me to where those other objects are.

I carry a couple of Trinkets with me in my Sporran to get me places in a hurry. So, I'm never late for dinner.

I’ve even discovered that I can make Trinket portals to a “Moving Target”. First, my bicycle, which I parked in different locations and was able to portal myself to. Then, one for my truck.

The next step in my evolution as a maker of portals was discovering that they appeared to work longer. The Barn had only granted me a dozen trips. Each one I made after that appears to function a little longer. At first I was certain that the process involved some sort of Voodoo. My early successes included materials that I had collected from the target of the portal. The barn had pebbles and wood from the farm, and Gerry's had some sand that I had collected from the beach.

I also wondered if there had to be some deep emotional connection to the places; even trauma, but that eventually proved to be false. Those things help, but they're not necessary.

I just need to be focused and passionate with the process and pour myself into the portals that I create.

Although I still have a passion for model railroading I don't really have a space for that right now. I have a side job with my Dad's architectural firm building scale models for different projects they do which scratches that itch.
